‘Richmond 34’ Remembered and Honored

Fifty years ago, 34 students from Virginia Union University were arrested for conducting a sit-in to integrate the “whites-only” lunch counter at the Thalhimers department store. Virginia recently honored the “Richmond 34” with a historic marker for challenging racial segregation.
